Why Play Custodian Brothers?

The Custodians are the most elite of the battle brothers. While they are very few in number, These guys are even more slabs of meat than any equivalent army and will almost always be outnumbered. Opposite them are the sisters, being more more mobile but at the cost of being as fragile as HDF veterans.

Pros:

  • Custodians are incredibly tanky, with both good defense and Tough
  • Universal Fearless

Cons:

  • Absurdly expensive
  • Sisters are fragile by comparison with limited loadouts
  • Low model count
  • No psychic game at all

Rules

  • Eternal Vigilant: Friendly units within 12" get +1 to hit rolls in melee.
  • High Prosecutor: Friendly units within 12" get +1 to hit rolls when shooting.
  • Shield Wall: Enemies take -1 to hit when they attack any units where all models have this rule.

Units

Heroes

  • Great Sister: A flimsier hero, but more than capable of synergizing where the Custodian Captain cannot. However, she also has to dedicate between melee with her stock Energy Sword (which makes Furious a desirable buy) or shooting by buying either a Flamethrower or a Prosecution Rifle with a CCW (thus making Relentless a good pick). In either case, you can instead grab Scout for advance movement instead of Relentless or Furious. On top of that, you can also buy for a unit bonus of +1 to either melee attacks or shooting attacks, which can synchronize with any loadout.

Infantry

  • Vigilant Sister: Armed with an Energy Sword, and therefore is Furious. Don't let them get hit, abuse all the cover.
  • Prosecution Sister: A sister with a long-range Prosecution Rifle and Relentless. Don't keep on the front lines, especially without cover.
  • Hunter Sister: This sister has a Flamethrower and Scout, so you want them to make sure their flamethrowers hit the enemy at the worst possible time.
  • Custodian Brother: Incredibly expensive, but you get a very durable custodian with a 3+ quality, 2+ defense and Tough(3). If you need more survivability, you can buy either Shield Wall or Regeneration so you can protect your extremely costly investment. On top of that, you can also pick up a Battle Standard for Fear. In most cases, you just need to make sure that you're killing everything you can with this single guy because you'll need to do as much to make back his value.
    • Melee: The Custodian starts out with a Sword with an addon that can generally be used for any enemies. This can be replaced with either a crowd-clearing Axe, an armor-crushing Spear, or a hero-felling Halberd.
    • Shooting: The Shot-Mount the Custodian comes with is a pretty handy attachment, as it has AP(1) can handle quite a bit at a decent range. You can also take a new mount, with plenty of options. The Fuse-Mount destroys all brutes with ease, the flame-mount can overwhelm squads, a Bolt-Mount for rapid-fire Rending, a Storm-Mount for long-range AP(1), and the Needler-Mount gives you long-range Poison.
  • Jetpack Brother: While not as tanky at 3+ defense, these guys have jetpacks so they can have mobility that most can't compare with. While they start with a short-ranged Destroyer Pistol with Rending and Dagger, they can pick up a Spear and either a Shot-Mount or Storm-Mount depending on how far you want to shoot. As with the standard Custodians, you can also buy shields and Regeneration for extra survivability.
